“Helping Children Thrive and Families Find a Path Forward”
Welcome to Deneen Holder Counselling
As a child & family therapist based in Surrey, BC, I also extend my services to those from Delta, Langley, and Abbotsford. I'm dedicated to supporting parents, children, and families, and specialize in assisting children with special needs and those navigating loss or trauma, including fostering and adoption.
In parent consulting, I empower parents to build strong connections with their children and facilitate healing in strained relationships. My approach is grounded in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where attachment can flourish, drawing from Neufeld's developmental theory.
I understand the challenges families face when children struggle or family dynamics are strained, and consider it a privilege to support you, your child, and your family on your journey towards healing and growth.

Services Offered
-
Strengthening the parent-child relationship is the foundation for helping children thrive. If you need help finding a path forward in your relationship with your child, one-on-one consults are available for parents online, and will soon be available in-person in the Surrey/Langley area.
-
Play is the language of children. When working with children and adolescents, play provides safety for emotional expression and is often the key to healing. Play enables the emotional movement that is the essence of therapy.
-
We all go through difficult seasons. Whether it is grief, depression, relationship struggles, or just feeling stuck, sometimes we need help finding the path forward. 50-minute individual sessions are available in person in the South Surrey area.
-
It can be hard when a child is struggling, or when family life is just not what it should be. Sometimes families need help to work things out and move forward.
-
Using the Prepare/Enrich Assessment Tool, couples can work through areas of conflict and build on areas of strength to prepare for a strong and healthy marriage.
-
Power to Parent I… The Vital Connection
Part I of the Power-to-Parent series focuses on the child-adult relationship as the context for raising children - how this relationship is meant to develop, what can go wrong, why parents must matter more than peers, how to cultivate a context of connection, how to win back one's child if need be, and more. Attachment-safe and developmentally friendly discipline strategies are also introduced.
